A catch-all e-mailbox is one that gathers all the emails sent to invalid addresses. For example, if your email address is info@domain.com, but somebody misspells it and sends a message to inof@domain.com, it will still be received in the catch-all mailbox that you have configured. Just one single mailbox per domain name can have this feature enabled and in this way you will never miss messages because the other side has an out-of-date email address or has made a spelling error. The drawback of having a catch-all mailbox is that you may begin receiving a lot of spam emails, but this problem can be solved using anti-spam filtering software. It is also crucial to bear in mind that a mailbox with an activated catch-all functionality cannot redirect inbound emails to a third-party email address.

Catch-all Emails in Website Hosting

If you’ve got a Linux website hosting plan with us and you’d like to enable the catch-all option for a certain e-mailbox that you have in the account, it’ll take literally just a mouse click in the Email Manager section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to accomplish this. A catch-all button is available on the right-hand side of each email address that you have created under any domain name hosted in your account. You can choose one email address per domain name by clicking on the corresponding button. This will activate the feature right away, so all email messages sent to miswritten email addresses will be received there. Clicking the button once again will deactivate the catch-all feature. In case you’ve got activated email forwarding, our system will exhibit a cautionary note and you will not be able to activate the catch-all feature until you deactivate the forwarding or you can simply choose some other mailbox to be the catch-all one.

Catch-all Emails in Semi-dedicated Servers

The catch-all option can be activated without any effort if you have a semi-dedicated server account with us. All the email addresses that you’ve set up with the domain names hosted in the semi-dedicated server account will be shown in the Hepsia Control Panel’s Email Manager section and you will see a mini logo handily located directly next to each one. With just a single click, you can enable or disable the catch-all option for any mailbox of your preference as long as there isn't another mailbox under the same domain with the option already activated and there isn't activated email forwarding. Instead, you can right-click on a mailbox and activate this feature using the context menu that will come into sight. If any of the conditions for creating a catch-all mailbox is not answered, our system will inform you, but will not replace or disable anything automatically.
